In October 2024 two changes came into force in relation to improving access to anticipatory medication in the community:
• A pilot for the delivery of anticipatory medication in urgent circumstances
• Changes to authorisations (removal of the 12 week community expiry which has been replaced with Clinical Confirmation).
Guidelines for both can be accessed via the Area Prescribing Committee (APC) website. Here is a link to access the recorded presentation explaining the changes and the LHIS guide for accessing the urgent delivery service.
