Training and Events

As well as designing and delivering education, training and development opportunities directly, the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Training Hub works in partnership with a number of providers to support the promotion and delivery of events that are pertinent to colleagues working in primary care and across the health system locally.  Our current calendar of training and educational events include those commissioned by LLR Training Hub, partner organisations and signposting to external providers.

Training and Upskilling Offers

The LLR Training Hub is also working collaboratively with the LLR Primary Care Management Academy and the LLR Local Medical Committee to ensure accessible training and upskilling offers are available to the general practice workforce on a ‘low-cost or no-cost’ basis. These offers are being created and made available to help meet the demand from general practice for value-for-money course provision, which was previously fully funded from the General Practice Training and Development Budget which ceased at the end of March 2026.

Any courses that we are able to secure in-year will be added to this page, with information on how to book and in some cases where relevant, guidance on how to make payment.  Where we are able to offer courses fully funded, we will continue to do so.

Courses will be promoted via this page and also via direct email communication to practices and PCNs.

Current course provision

In addition to our existing CPD programme, a number of courses are now being made available by the LLR Training Hub throughout 2026/27 on a "low cost, no cost" basis to practice and PCN staff in LLR.  Typically, these will include - Annual Influenza Immunisation Update, Cervical Cytology, Wound Care and Venepuncture.   For more information view our Training and Events Calendar.

In most cases, they are accessible on a first come, first served basis and where demand exceeds capacity, we will endeavour to arrange additional cohorts and advertise these as soon as possible. In some cases, there may be a requirement to levy a small charge per delegate to cover the costs of provision where there is no allocated budget to support delivery. Our pledge is to keep these costs to a minimum.  Where we can offer courses at no charge then we will continue to do so for the benefit to General Practice.

If you have a request for training that is not currently showing in our Training and Events calendar, please Click here to access our training request form for 2026/27.  It is important that you let us know of any individual/practice training needs in order that we are able to scope future provision as far as possible.
