What is it?
A supported programme focusing on empowering nurse leaders working within health systems building an inclusive workplace environment where nurses can grow, develop, and thrive. The New to Practice Nursing programme is a scheme delivered locally by Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland Training Hub (LLRTH). The programme focus’ on innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and nurse development. It is aimed at enriching the availability of skills and portfolio working within PCNs. Nurses are released from practice to access benefits which include an accredited study programme with De Montfort University (DMU), peer support networks and funded mentorship.

Who is eligible to apply for this?
The programme is available for all nurses working in substantive roles in general practice that are new to primary care in the last 12 months, including nurses that have graduated in the last 12 months and part-time nurses. Nurses joining the programme will be advised to join the accredited Practice Nurse course at De Montfort University (DMU) in year one of the programme to equip them with the skills needed to work in general practice.
