Workshop 1: Minimising Harmful Substances & Behaviours - Dr Hussain Al-Zubaidi

  • Recognise behavioural addiction patterns and drivers
  • Practise brief interventions confidently
  • Build personal boundaries and digital hygiene strategies

Workshop 2: How complaints and concerns are dealt with - Vicky Goodwin, GMC

In this session we will consider the role of the GMC and our standards in relation to how we deal with concerns. We will review patterns of complaints that we receive and how we deal with those, providing doctors with a fuller understanding of how our investigation and fitness to practise processes work.

Workshop 3: 10 Year Plan – where you fit within the changing NHS – Hempsons

Following the release of the NHS 10 Year Plan last summer, there has been much discussion on what this means for primary care – specifically GP practices, GP Federations and PCNs. As we wait to see how this will all work in practice, Robert will discuss what we know so far, including Single Neighbourhood Provider contracts, Multi-Neighbourhood Provider contracts as well as what the opportunities and threats are to primary care. This will help you to understand where your future as GPs will fit in the context of the changing NHS and what the opportunities may be in your long-term career. The session will include a Q&A section where Robert would welcome your questions.

Workshop 5: Thriving in difference: credibility without conformity – Amina Hussain

This is an interactive workshop for GP registrars and early career GPs exploring how difference is perceived in training and workplace settings. The session focuses on how professional credibility is formed and offers practical strategies to position individual differences as strengths, supporting participants to work with confidence and authenticity without feeling pressure to conform.

  • Recognise how structural inequality and cultural norms within general practice can advantage or disadvantage early career clinicians
  • Explore how intersecting identities influence professional experiences, opportunities and expectations during training and early practice
  • Develop language and insight to name and respond to moments of bias, misrecognition or credibility challenge
  • Strengthen their capacity to advocate for themselves while contributing to inclusive and equitable workplace cultures

Workshops - Round 2

Workshop 6: Sustainable High Performance in Primary Care - Dr Hussain Al-Zubaidi

  • Differentiate high performance from overwork
  • Apply physiology-based habits to protect energy
  • Design a sustainable weekly rhythm

Workshop 7: Partners and Partnership – understanding the risks and the rewards – Hempsons

With more GP partners thinking about succession, there are more opportunities for salaried GPs to become partners in the practice. This can be a very rewarding step, but it is important to understand what it means and to manage the risks associated with it. Robert's session will cover the context, Partnership Act, the types of partnerships (the different models available), and what to do if you find yourself in a dispute (tips on avoiding them as well as explaining the dispute resolution procedure). The session will include a Q&A section where Robert would welcome your questions.

Workshop 8: NHS Pensions for GPs and Early Retirement – Greg Povey

By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand how the NHS Pension scheme works, including how benefits are built up and calculated.
  • Differentiate between the 1995, 2008 and 2015 schemes
  • Have a basic understanding of what their NHS Pension may provide at retirement
  • Understand the role and importance of Type 2 forms for Salaried GPs and how errors can impact pension benefits.
  • Assess the financial impact of early retirement, including actuarial reductions.
  • Identify key actions to take now to improve retirement outcomes and long-term financial security.
