Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What can the funding be used for?

The CPD funding is an individual development fund to equip eligible staff with new clinical skills to enhance the care they provide to patients and develop their careers.

Is this instead of Workforce Development Funding?

No, Workforce Development Funding is different and is to support system wide development and should be invested in activities which are driven by employer intent, to target the improvement and transformation of care delivery, requiring scale of education and training intervention; CPD is for individual personal and professional development informed by the appraisal process.

Can CPD Funding be used as part paymet for a more expensive course?

Yes, however we would need to seek assurances around how any remaining costs would be met.

Can the CPD funding be used for backfill or administration costs?

No, the funding is an individual development fund.

Is the allocation pro-rata for part timers?

No, all eligible staff groups are entitled to the same amount of funding, regardless of the hours they work.
